Spain officially premiered on the flagship crossover Seat Tarraco. Orders for the model will begin to take at the end of this year.
The name of the new” SUV ” Seat, the third in the line of the brand after Ateca and Arona, was chosen by popular vote last year, it was attended by more than 146 000 people from 134 countries. Tarraco is the Latin name for the Catalan city of Tarragona. The crossover is built on the MQB platform, and its closest “relatives” are Skoda Kodiaq and “stretched” Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace.
The exterior of the “German” and “Czech” almost nothing in common, while Tarraco in profile is almost similar to the long-wheelbase Tiguan – “Spaniard” are the same belt-line and wheel arches, preserved, and even triangular Windows in the front. But the front part and the stern, of course, were decorated differently. By the way, Tarraco became the first Seat model, the exterior of which is made in the updated style: later similar grille and optics will appear in other cars of the brand.
Tarraco surpasses its “brothers” in length: 4735 mm against 4701 mm in Tiguan Allspace and 4697 mm in Kodiak. Wheelbase flagship, the brand – 2791 mm, as in the Kodiak (Tiguan – 2790 mm). For all three crossovers the third row of seats is optionally available. The volume of the seat Tarraco trunk is identical to the” stretched ” Tiguan: from 760 to 1920 liters in the five-seater version and 700 – 1775 liters in the seven-seater version.
While for new Seat announced only two rich configuration-Style and Excellence. In the list of standard equipment there are led lights, multimedia system, climate control, the system of holding in the lane. Among the options – a virtual “device”, adaptive shock absorbers, multimedia with gesture control (for the first time for the brand), adaptive cruise control, monitoring system” blind ” zones and recognition of road signs.
At the start of sales Seat Tarraco offer with petrol “turbochetverkami” 1.5 TSI (150 HP) and 2.0 TSI (190 HP), as well as diesel 2.0 TDI (150 or 190 HP) – these motors are in the range Kodiaq. Front-wheel drive Tarraco put six-speed “mechanics”, all-wheel drive cross is equipped with a seven-speed DSG box. Later, the motor range promise to expand. It is not excluded that Tarraco has another and a hybrid version.
Production of the new crossover Seat will not adjust in Spain and at the corporate headquarters of Volkswagen in Wolfsburg, where gather Tiguan Allspace. In Europe, orders for Tarraco will be accepted in December this year, the first customers will receive their cars in early 2019. Prices have not yet been announced, but foreign media suggest that the “base” novelty will cost somewhere 30 000 euros-it’s about 2 375 000 rubles at the current rate. For comparison, the long-wheelbase VW Tiguan Allspace in Germany, for example, will cost at least 29,975 euros (about 2,373,000 rubles), and Skoda Kodiaq there is from 30,090 euros (about 2 382,000 rubles).
In Russia, the car Seat did not sell. The Spanish brand has tried several times to gain a foothold in our country (for the first time the brand entered the Russian market in the 90s), but the demand for cars due to the lack of local production has always been low. Finally Seat left the Russian market in 2014, its return is not planned.
