The show season has started! Last week, the entire automotive industry had their eyes riveted on Los Angeles or Tokyo, depending on preferences, to contemplate the novelties that the automakers have in store for us at the end of the year.
Both events are held simultaneously, from 22 November to 1 st December. So, auto mechanics students , where are the best cars? LA or Tokyo?
Difficult to choose! The two motor shows present essentials to us.
In Tokyo, with the theme of mobility, we expect everything! For this 43 rd edition, the Mini is expected with the world premiere of the Cooper 2015. Under its hood, two new displacements with the aim of reducing fuel consumption as much as possible. Thus, there is an option with a 1.5-liter twin-turbo engine capable of reaching a power of 134 horsepower and another with a 2-liter engine which is able to exceed 189 horsepower. An interesting choice for our students in auto mechanics courses who love small cars.
On the American side, Honda is looking to the future and is unveiling its FCEV concept in Los Angeles. A concept which should be marketed by 2015 according to the Japanese manufacturer. A fuel cell hydrogen car that we can’t wait to see. For now, we only have access to a sketch that reveals a concept with a rather particular look.
Chevrolet also opted for LA and more precisely the day devoted to the media, in order to unveil its brand new Colorado 2015. New racing car which according to the American manufacturer is the most advanced and the most powerful to be marketed.
Also to watch, the first North American of the all-electric car from the German manufacturer Volkswagen, the e-Golf. A racing car which, with its electric motor, can reach 115 horsepower. And even more interesting, a car that should roll on our roads soon, with a start on the North American market by the end of 2014.
Some brands, like Mercedes, have decided to take advantage of the competition between the LA auto show and the Tokyo auto show. How? ‘Or’ What? By presenting two new AMG products in two different continents. Thus, we will discover the S65 AMG which promises a power of 630 horses and the SLS AMG GT Final Edition with a little less but still surprising power of 591 horses powered by a V8 engine.
