Presentation of the new generation Fuso Canter – TF series.
In mid-August at the Dmitrov avtopoligone was officially presented the new generation Fuso Canter – TF series. In addition to the presentation all participants were given the opportunity to test the new features.
Within the framework of the press conference, Director of sales car Fuso Ilya Bochkarev told the audience about the history of formation of the Russian branch of the company and prospects of its development. In 2010, the Mitsubishi Fuso Corporation at the facilities of the Kama automobile plant started SKD production of the Canter model. By the middle of 2017 has produced more than 8,000 trucks series TD. In September last year at the exhibition “Komtrans” presented Canter TF series, and two months ago this version has got on the conveyor.But before that, on the territory of the Russian Federation organized two large run in 2016 for the Magadan region (the town of Susuman) with the purpose of the test under conditions of extremely low temperatures last year from Vladivostok to the capital (endurance test).
From January to July 2018 were sold more than 700 trucks Fuso Canter series TD and TF. The plans of the manufacturer to the end of the year to sell more than 1,300 vehicles of the new generation, which will account for approximately 35% exceeded the figures of the previous period. Bochkarev stressed that in the current year the share of Fuso among Japanese-Korean brands in the segment of trucks with GVW of 3.5 – 16 tons will remain at the level of 2017 and will be 15.9%. This is despite the fact that the range of the company is not too wide.The emphasis is still on this time – starting in 2018, the company decided to provide for Canter unprecedented conditions warranty: three years or 200,000 km whichever comes first.
The new Canter will be offered in two variants of the total mass of 7.5 t and of 8.55 t and also in four wheel base – 3400, 3850, 4300 and 4750 mm. the Car already in a base complete set is equipped with front and rear stabilizer bars, ABS c EBD (brake force distribution), engine brake, Central locking with remote control, fog lights, and air conditioning.
Turbodiesel family 4Р10 has a working volume of 3 l and is aggregated with 5-speed manual transmission. The engine exists in two versions: 150 HP (370 Nm of torque) or the 175 HP (430 Nm). The first is for the 7.5-ton, respectively, for an 8.5-ton.
As for driving impressions, they have been mixed. Yes, it is a modern, very high quality car with nice interior and nice exterior. But ergonomics is not all right: despite the fact that the driver’s seat has a significant range of adjustments and the steering column moves as hight and tilt adjustment, comfortable behind the wheel is not so easy. My feeling is the reason that there are not optimally chosen mutual position of these elements of the cockpit, and pedals.
The movement of the Canter TF is quite nice: a sensitive and informative steering wheel, a moderate roll in the corners, low noise level. Engine power is enough, anyway, to disperse with half load behind. But with the selectivity of the gear is the problem. Sometimes even remembered the bus LAZ-695, when he had the lever to literally “wrap” around neutral. Not the most pleasant feeling. And also sorry that the new Canter has lost mitsubischi “diamond” on the radiator grille – large letters FUSO and nowhere who took the letter “L” can hardly boast the same fame.
